Abstract Submission

Regulations
Abstracts for Habitation 2006 are solicited in all areas of research and technology development that support the development of advanced habitation systems for humans living in isolated and extreme environments, such as the Antarctic, the Moon, or Mars. These areas include, but are not limited to, the following: advanced methods for air and water monitoring; fire detection and suppression; microbial detection and control; control systems for integrated testing and advanced habitats; biological and physical-chemical methods for air and water purification; genetic engineering of food crops; food production and processing technologies; human factors and ergonomics, communications; habitability measurement and design; waste recycling and reclamation; thermal control; systems analysis of life support systems; advanced EVA; in-situ resource utilization and fabrication; and space exploration habitat design/development.

Submission
Abstracts for the Habitation 2006 Conference will be accepted until October 1, 2005. Notification of acceptance will be sent no later than November 1, 2005. All submitted abstracts would be reviewed by the Habitation 2006 technical program committee and evaluated based upon their technical merit and relevance to the goals of the conference. Authors of the accepted abstracts will be invited to give an oral presentation OR to present a poster at the Habitation 2006 Conference. All accepted abstracts would be published in a special issue of the journal Habitation.

Note: Publication of research results in the journal "Habitation" is a separate process from submitting abstracts for the "Habitation 2006" conference. Authors who wish to do so are invited to submit a full-length paper to the journal editor for review.
